Race Results 2017
Sunday the 1st of October saw the annual Ashley Boden pursuit trophy. The competitors were welcomed with winds of 18mph and gusts of 35 at times.
Race one saw Marcus Shaw [Suopernova] closing in on Steve Bishop [Solo], in the end, it came down to the last 10 seconds while going down the run. Marcus sat behind Steve to block the wind and slow him down to try and get past but time ran out and Steve managed to hold the lead and take the win.
Race 2 saw more entertainment with the wind was increasing. Steve was flying down the run with a massive gust, the gybe mark approaching quickly but he held his nerve and went for the gybe. His reactions weren't quick enough though and he duly went for a little swim! Marcus and Steve struggled up the beat with huge gusts blowing through and before the sailors knew it the hour was up with Steve taking 1st followed Marcus in 2nd with Amie and Paul King [Laser 2] in 3rd.
Steve had first place all wrapped up but 2nd was still up for grabs in the 3rd and final race of the day.
Race 3 saw wind strength increasing further, Steve retired after the first lap while Marcus managed to hold off Amie and Paul who were closing in quickly, Marcus took the win and 2nd overall.

The last day in April 2017 held our annual Majestic pursuit trophy (round 2 of the pursuit series).
With the wind getting close to 20mph, and gusts up to 30mph, the weather gave the sailors some interesting conditions.
The wind blowing straight down the lake and the sun shining gave the sailors good long beats and runs.
Light wind was forecast for this meeting but racing went ahead nonetheless.
A wonderful spring day brought the club sailors out to enjoy a great days racing.
A clean sweep for Tim Hand from Swarkstone Sailing Club, in Derbyshire, as he takes the win in all three races.
